Two foreign nationals, AB (29) and BB (21), were arrested at Podgorica Airport for assaulting an official in the performance of their duties, the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
As stated in the statement, at Podgorica Airport, during the border control of passengers, border police officers noticed AB holding an alcoholic beverage in his hands, after which he was warned to put it away, which he did.
"Shortly thereafter, while inspecting the gate, border police officers noticed AB and another person – BB (21) in an intoxicated state, holding bottles of alcoholic beverages in their hands, while disturbing other passengers who were there," the statement said.
The police added that they were informed by the supervisor of the said flight that due to the safety of the other passengers, they would not be able to travel on the scheduled flight, to which they protested, loudly opposing the decision, and actively resisting the police officers of the Podgorica Airport Border Police Station.
"Taking actions within their jurisdiction, officers of the Podgorica Security Department deprived AB and BB of their liberty, who are charged with the criminal offense of assault on an official in the performance of official duty to the detriment of police officers of the Podgorica Airport Border Police Station. They were brought before the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office for further jurisdiction, along with a criminal report," the UP statement concluded.
