Nikšić police searched apartments and other premises at four locations used by two individuals, and on that occasion two rifles and two pistols, as well as two automatic rifle frames and ammunition, were found and temporarily seized, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'West' - Nikšić Security Department, in continuation of intensified activities aimed at suppressing all forms of crime, with an emphasis on finding and confiscating weapons in illegal possession, as well as increased control of operationally interesting persons and persons close to them, have, pursuant to a previously obtained order from the investigating judge of the Basic Court in Nikšić, conducted searches of apartments and other premises at four locations used by two persons, during which four firearms were found and temporarily seized - two rifles and two pistols, as well as two automatic rifle frames and ammunition," the statement states.

The UP added that a search of the apartment and other premises at two locations in the Nikšić area, used by RM (69) from Nikšić, found:

- a rifle of unknown make and caliber, 17 pistol bullets of 7.62 mm caliber and three hunting cartridges;

- Zastava pistol, model M57, cal. 7.62 mm;

- Zastava model N57 pistol, cal. 7.62 mm; and

- TOZ brand rifle, model TOZ 34, cal. 12 Gax23/4.

"RM had all four firearms in illegal possession, since he did not have documentation for the NN brand and caliber rifle, while the issued firearms certificates for two pistols and the TOZ brand rifle had expired, and therefore all of the aforementioned weapons were confiscated," the statement reads.

The UP also said that Nikšić police officers also searched the apartment and other premises at two locations used by BM (66) in the Nikšić area, during which 35 rounds of NN caliber rifle ammunition and two empty automatic rifle frames were found and seized.

"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić has been informed of the results of the searches, who will conduct a legal qualification of the event," the UP said.
