In the months-long "Finish" operation by officers of the Crime Prevention Sector and the Podgorica Basic State Prosecutor's Office, the president of the Trade Union Organization of the Emergency Medical Assistance Institute of Montenegro, Maja Radišević (38), was arrested, and a criminal complaint was filed against her deputy, Mladen Rešetar (45), on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of abuse of official position for an extended period, abuse of position in business for an extended period, and the criminal offense of forgery of an official document.
This was announced by the Police Directorate, stating that Radišević and Rešetara are suspected of abusing their position in business operations: "In the manner in which, acting in their own name and for their own account, continuously in the period 2016-2025, with the intention of obtaining unlawful material gain, exceeding the limits of their official powers without decisions and legally valid grounds, they withdrew money in cash from the Trade Union organization's account, falsifying official documents, orders for non-cash money transfers, contracts and other documents, made illegal transfers of the Union's funds to their accounts with several commercial banks, and with the Union's funds, among other things, purchased for themselves various clothes, shoes, watches and the like, thereby illegally appropriating the funds entrusted to them, in the total amount of 138.908 euros, which also represents material damage they caused to the Trade Union organization of the Emergency Medical Assistance Institute of Montenegro."
They state that the two are suspected of having committed criminal offenses at work - abuse of official position: "Because as employees of the Emergency Medical Service of Montenegro, MR (38) in the capacity of the Head of the Economic and Financial Service, and the second suspect MR (45) in the capacity of an official, acting in their own name and for their own account continuously in the period 2016-2025, with the intention of obtaining unlawful material gain for themselves, by exceeding the limits of their official powers without decisions and legally valid grounds, falsifying official documents, orders for non-cash money transfers, contracts, payrolls, and other documents, to the detriment of the Emergency Medical Service of Montenegro, they unlawfully appropriated funds in the total amount of 33.655 euros. The total unlawful material gain that the suspects acquired by causing material damage to the Trade Union Organization of the Emergency Medical Service of Montenegro and the Emergency Medical Service of Montenegro amounts to over 172.000 euros," explained the police.
The security institution emphasizes that, during the implementation of police and prosecutorial activities, raids were conducted in order to find objects and traces related to the commission of these criminal offenses.
"Three passenger vehicles, VW Golf 7, VW Golf 8 and VW Passat, one freight vehicle - a VW van and over 80 wedding dresses were seized. MR (38) will be brought before the acting prosecutor within the legal deadline for further jurisdiction, along with a criminal report," the statement reads.
The Police Directorate says that they are continuing their activities to detect and suppress corruption crimes in state bodies, organizations, and business entities and companies with undiminished intensity, and indiscriminately prosecuting persons who, through their actions or inactions, cause damage to the budget and citizens of Montenegro.
