Ulcinj police arrested a teacher, RP (66), from that city on suspicion of sexually harassing a nine-year-old student.
"Police officers from the Ulcinj Security Department have deprived RP (66) from Ulcinj of his liberty, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of sexual harassment against a nine-year-old girl. The suspect is a teacher, while the injured child is a student at a school. The incident was reported to the police on September 2, after which police officers immediately, with special care and sensitivity because it concerns a minor child, took all necessary measures and actions to establish the facts of the reported incident," the Police Directorate announced.
They add that information was collected from several people, and that other police measures and actions were taken.
"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj, the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica and the Center for Social Work were informed about everything. After collecting additional information, the competent state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj stated that the incident met the essential elements of the criminal offense of sexual harassment and ordered that the suspect RP be deprived of his liberty. RP was questioned by the competent prosecutor, who then issued a decision to detain the suspect in police premises for up to 72 hours, until he is brought before an investigating judge," the police statement reads.
According to information from "Vijesti", the school administration notified the police, the prosecutor's office, and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation on the same day, immediately after receiving information that the unfortunate incident had occurred that afternoon.
According to the same information, after the report, the school took legal measures within its jurisdiction, and further actions are up to the police and prosecutor's office.
