UP: Bar police arrest 11 people, looking for another, network of street drug dealers dismantled

The Bar police carried out an operation codenamed "Lantern" today, and 11 people were arrested, while a twelfth person is being sought, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.

The institution said that the action was carried out as part of several months of planned, coordinated activities aimed at breaking up the networks of so-called street drug dealers.

Marko Krivokapić (47), Petar Jovanović (41), Rusmir Nurković (35), Arijan Bajramović (26), Kenan Demir (28), Darko Milić (32), Nemanja Mrdak (48), Valter Žabelji (44), Enesa Osmačević (32), Radomir Tovanić (44), Miloš Vučković (31) were arrested, while Robert Franović (31) is being sought and criminal charges have been filed against him.

"Due to suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, MK (47), PJ (41), RN (35), AB (26), KD (28), DM (32), NM (48), V.Ž. (44), EO (32), RT (44) and MV (31) were deprived of their liberty, while a criminal complaint was filed against RF (51), whom the police are intensively searching for, on suspicion that he committed the same criminal offense. During this morning's operation, searches were carried out at 12 locations in Bar, and cocaine, heroin and marijuana were found, and it is suspected that the above-mentioned persons were continuously engaged in street sales of narcotic drugs," the UP statement reads.

The Police Department said that as part of these months-long activities aimed at suppressing street drug sales, the Bar police had previously filed several misdemeanor reports pursuant to the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.

"Thus, in 18 individual cases, seizures of cocaine, heroin and marijuana were made, as well as tablets from the list of opiates and scales for precise measurement. During this operation, objects and tags originating from criminal offenses, which were used or created by the commission of criminal offenses, communication devices and means, money and drugs were found. We also emphasize that among the processed persons there are eight persons of operational interest, as well as two persons who closely cooperate with members of criminal groups, while the other persons are repeat offenders in committing drug crimes. Through these coordinated activities lasting several months, officers of the Police Directorate and the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica broke up the network of street drug dealers in Bar and showed that the inter-sectoral fight against crime yields the most effective results," the UP said.
