Australian citizen BU (62) is suspected of continuously sending threatening and sexist messages to the editor-in-chief of M Portal, Danica Nikolić, for a long time, the Police Directorate announced, announcing that they will file criminal charges against him.
The police said that, in cooperation with prosecutors at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Podgorica and international partner services, they identified a person who, from one email address, sent messages of questionable content to Nikolić from December 2022 to September this year.
"This is BU (62), an Australian citizen, for whom, based on the collected material evidence, it is suspected that Nikolić continuously, over a longer period of time, sent messages of threatening, disturbing, misogynistic and sexist content," the statement said.
As the police said, the collected data and evidence were presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, which issued an order to file criminal charges against BU due to suspicion that he committed four criminal acts of endangering security to the detriment of Nikolić.
The police said that BU is not located on the territory of Montenegro.
"Further proceedings in this case will involve international legal communication between the competent authorities of Montenegro and Australia," the statement said.
