The non-governmental organization (NGO) 35mm announced today that it stands firmly with its colleague Jelena Jovanović and strongly condemns the threats sent to her via text message.
"We call on the police and the prosecutor's office not to let such intimidation of our colleagues go unpunished, not to delay the prosecution, and to show that threats to journalists will not be tolerated," they said in a statement posted on the social network Instagram.
They stressed that "anyone who thinks they can silence, intimidate or attack our colleagues should receive the message that they will be exposed and held accountable before the law."
"We stand with journalists who face pressure and attempts at intimidation - the truth cannot be silenced, and courage will not be shaken. Every attack on the media is an attack on society and must have its consequences," concluded the NGO 35mm in a statement.
An investigative journalist for "Vijesti" has been threatened again, and the newspaper has been told that Montenegrin authorities, in cooperation with colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina, are trying to discover who is behind the latest attempt at intimidation.
Journalist Jovanović received a threatening message on Saturday, September 13th, due to, the sender claims, the mention of a construction company in television shows in which she appears.
