The executive director and editor-in-chief of the Standard portal, Jasmina Muminović, filed a criminal complaint with the police today due to a threat made to the editorial office, the media outlet reports.

Today, she also gave a statement before the Basic State Prosecutor in Podgorica.

Standard reports that one Facebook user, on the official page of that portal, under the link to the article "SDT's Selectivity: Persecution of Editors More Important Than 100 'Kalashnikovs' Ready for the Church of Serbia", wrote in the comment: "Standard, how about I come home for you?"

"I perceive this comment as a threat to me personally, the editorial staff and journalists of the Standard portal, especially in the context of recent events in which the Special State Prosecutor's Office targeted our portal and several other media outlets in the Order for the Conduct of an Investigation for Criminal Association in the case against Aleksandar Mijajlović and several other individuals," Muminović stated in the complaint.

She also says that she feels threatened by the threatening message, as well as that she fears for the safety of the portal's editorial staff, and has requested that the Police Directorate and the National Security Agency (ANB) conduct a security risk assessment and take protective measures.

Muminović assessed, as reported by Standard, that "the targeting by the SDT created an environment in which institutions turned editors and journalists into 'clay pigeons'", adding that the text that prompted the threat to Standard was "the fact that the SDT had higher priority cases for investigating the constitutional order and public security".

"A few days ago, I warned that an atmosphere of lynching of free media, investigative journalists and critics, is being created. Placing media editors in the context of a criminal association in which a subordinate position in relation to suspects is constructed is classic targeting and pressure, as well as an attempt to jeopardize the personal and professional integrity of the editorial staff and the credibility of the media," added Muminović.

Popović: Novović drew a target for media that criticize the government

MP and spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Sonja Popović called on the police to provide security for the editor and editorial staff of Standard.

"The threat to the editorial staff and editor of the Standard portal, Jasmina Muminović, is an expected sequence of events after the prosecutor Vladimir Novović targeted media outlets that are critical of this bizarre government. I call on the Police Directorate to prosecute those responsible for the threat, and to ensure the safety of the editor and editorial staff of the aforementioned portal," she wrote on Iks.
