Kotor resident Krsto Maroš (47), a high-ranking member of the Kavača criminal clan, has been arrested in Spain, "Vijesti" has learned.
The Police Directorate announced that a high-ranking member of an organized crime group from Montenegro was arrested in Malaga, based on a red warrant issued by Interpol in Podgorica.
They remind that he is wanted for attending criminal proceedings against him on suspicion of committing the crime of creating a criminal organization and aggravated murder.
Maroš is among 14 accused of the murder of Podgorica resident Nikola Stanišić in August 2020.
He is also one of 31 people accused of being directly or in some way involved in the murders of Damir Hodžić, Adis Spahić, and Milo Radulović, known as the Captain.
"Through direct exchange of data between the competent targeted search services of the Police Directorate and targeted search teams of European Union countries, the police learned about the location of the wanted person who used multiple false identities while hiding, and continuous targeted measures and actions, thorough planning and intensive exchange of operational and intelligence information with the law enforcement authorities of the Kingdom of Spain resulted in the deprivation of liberty of this person," the statement reads.
The police said that further communication between the judicial authorities of Montenegro and Spain will follow within the framework of the extradition procedure.
