Former state security agent Petar Lazović said today before the Higher Court in Podgorica that he does not want to be released from custody while his father, former Police Administration official Zoran Lazović, is there.

He said this during the continuation of the trial of defendants Radoje Zvicer, Slobodan Kašćelan and other defendants, for the murder of Milan Ljepoja and the creation of a criminal organization.

Lazović addressed the court with these words after his defense attorney Nikola Martinović proposed that his detention be lifted.

Petar Lazović is suspected of belonging to a criminal organization, abuse of office, drug and weapons smuggling. According to the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), he is suspected of working for members of the Kavač clan. He has denied these charges.

Martinović stated today that Petar Lazović has been in custody for 40 months, and that the bail offered was the largest in the history of the Montenegrin judiciary, worth nine million euros.

Petar Lazović apologized to the defense attorney and told him to withdraw the motion to terminate the detention.

"Not because I feel good there, or because I belong there. My place is with my family. I don't want to leave detention while my father is there," said Petar Lazović.

After this address to the court, the lawyer withdrew the motion to terminate the detention.
