Milošević: The room for reviewing court files and evidence is inadequate, it resembles a dog kennel

"There is no air or windows in that room where that computer is located. Let them send you a photo so you can see what it looks like. It is impossible to review the material for five or six hours in such a space," Milošević pointed out, addressing the court.

The continuation of the trial of those accused of the murder of Miodrag Kruščić and of monitoring and planning the attack on former journalist of the Independent Daily (ND) "Vijesti" Olivera Lakić was postponed again today to November 24th at the Higher Court in Podgorica.

Addressing the court, defendant Mario Milošević said that the room for reviewing court files and evidence at the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) is inadequate and that it is impossible to review files there. He said that it resembles a dog kennel.

"There is no air in the room where that computer is located, no windows. Let them send you a photo so you can see what it looks like. It is impossible to review material for five or six hours in such a space," he pointed out.

At the last trial, he said that he did not want to be defended by his ex-officio defense attorney, attorney Dajana Koprivica. Today, he said that he wants to re-engage attorney Miloš Vuksanović and attorney Natalija Karadžić, because they are well-versed in this case.

"The impression is that we want to obstruct this case. Because this situation is misunderstood, I am re-engaging lawyers Vukasnović and Karadžić to prepare my defense. My defense will take a long time and I need time to consult with my defense attorneys," Milošević said.

Judge Radovan Vlaović, the president of the panel, said in court that the UIKS administration has one computer located in the room for reviewing court mail and one laptop that is provided to detainees upon request.

The Higher Court assigned the defendant Goran Rakočević an ex officio defense attorney, attorney Mubera Kurpejović, because the court had made a decision to dismiss his previous defense attorney, attorney Stefan Jovanović.

"I request a copy of the case file on a CD. I need time to familiarize myself with the Sky messages. I also request the minutes of the hearing of witness Bajram Pista," demanded the defendant Rakočević.

The indictment includes Milan Vujotic, former police officer Darko Lalovic, Filip Knezevic, Mario Milosevic, Goran Rakocevic, Veselin Bubanja, Filip Besovic, Luka Bulatovic, Dejan Vukasinovic, Branislav Karadzic, Goran Vukcevic, Mijajlo Stojanovic, Aleksandar Ljumovic and Sanja Bozovic. They are also charged with smuggling 554 kilograms of marijuana from Albania to Montenegro on January 26, 2021.

"The Council of the High Court in Podgorica, by decision Kvso no. 39/23, confirmed the indictment, Kt-S no. 265/20, which the Special State Prosecutor's Office filed against 14 accused persons, namely: MV, GR, FB, FK, SB, VB, LB, DV, DL, BK, MM, MS, A.Lj. and GV, for the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization, grievous bodily harm, grievous murder, murder by incitement, illegal possession of weapons and explosives and unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs. The subject of the indictment is, among other things, the attack on the journalist of "Vijesti", the injured party Olivera Lakić, on May 8, 2018, the aggravated murder of the injured party Miodrag Kruščić, on May 21, 2018 and the smuggling of 554 kg of the narcotic drug marijuana, from Albania to Montenegro, on January 26 2021," it was stated earlier in a statement by special prosecutor and spokesperson for the Special State Prosecutor's Office, Vukas Radonjić.
