Raičević: Authorities to protect citizens' property, Bar is an open and safe city, no one needs violence

The mayor of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, announced that he condemns the escalation of violence against foreigners by irresponsible and extreme individuals, which has today spilled over from other cities in Montenegro to Bar.

"I call on the competent authorities to react urgently and find the perpetrators of the destruction of the property of foreigners, entrepreneurs who do business in Bar, regardless of which community they belong to. Generalizing and accusing entire communities for the criminal behavior of individuals is unacceptable, regardless of who it is," said Raičević.

He pointed out that Bar is recognized as a city of multiculturalism, open to all, in which the politics of national, religious or any other tensions and hatred towards each other could never prevail, even in much more difficult times.

"The diversity in our city is our wealth that enhances the cosmopolitan spirit but also the economic activity in Bar by expanding towards the world and people from all over who choose Bar as a place to live. Bar has never witnessed any problems of this kind, so I believe that this shameful act is the first and last time that something like this will happen," wrote the Mayor of Bar.

He called on all citizens to contribute to a peaceful and stable everyday life in that city, not accepting or agreeing to abuses and manipulations that do not bring anything good to our city or country.

The local government, he said, will be a solid foundation for such values ​​and the preservation of stability and tolerance among all citizens in Bar.
