"We make a clear distinction between Turkish citizens who respect Montenegro and its laws and those who behave in the opposite way"

Turkey and Montenegro, as serious countries and partners, make a clear distinction between those Turkish citizens who reside in Montenegro and respect the state of Montenegro, the Constitution and its laws and contribute to Montenegrin society, and those who behave in the opposite way, said the Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro Bariş Kalkavan.

He met today with Montenegrin Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović to discuss the current situation due to recent events in Podgorica, the Ministry of Interior (MUP) announced.

According to the statement, the interlocutors agreed that Montenegro and Turkey are partner countries that jointly foster relations based on mutual respect and appreciation. The conversation particularly emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, inter-institutional cooperation and consistent respect for the law and institutions of the system.

Šaranović emphasized the Ministry of Interior's commitment to continue dialogue and cooperation with the Embassy of Turkey with the aim of strengthening trust and improving bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, the statement concluded.
