Threats against Fejzić reported to the police

The Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Montenegro announced that they have informed the Police Directorate that Reis Rifat Fejzić has received numerous life threats, serious insults and outbursts of hatred via social media in recent days.

"Given the heated atmosphere of lynching, xenophobia and Islamophobia, which is spreading in public space, the Islamic Community expresses concern because it considers the threats made to be real and serious. We expect an adequate response from the competent authorities towards identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators, and taking preventive measures," said the Secretary General of the Islamic Community, Fuad Čekić.

"We unequivocally condemn every act of violence, with wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured young man. We also call on responsible social actors to make additional efforts so that individual guilt does not become a legitimate reason for stigmatizing an entire nation or religion," the statement reads.
