Police Department officer Darko Kalezić (43) and former driver Darko (Danko) Bakrač (44) are suspected of being the leaders of a criminal organization that for a long period of time was involved in smuggling skunk from Albania, through Montenegro and further to European Union countries.
Officers of the Special Police Department are searching for Kalezić and Bakrač, due to reasonable suspicion that they committed a criminal offense - the creation of a criminal organization and the unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics.
At the top of this criminal organization, against which the Special State Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation today, it is suspected that Albanian citizen SM (56) was also at the top.
The SPO and SDT have collected evidence that this criminal organization managed to smuggle several hundred kilograms of marijuana.
On the orders of the SDT, SPO officers arrested three people early this morning - Aleksandar Popović (45) from Podgorica, Dejan Stanišić (39) from Nikšić, and Radoje Petrović, known as Rale (30), from Podgorica, who are charged with creating a criminal organization and drug smuggling.
Previously, UD (44) from Nikšić was also detained, suspected of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics.
This man from Nikšić was extradited to Montenegro at the end of last year, which wanted him due to suspicion that he was a member of the criminal organization of Igor Krstović from Zeća.
The investigation also includes three more foreign citizens - an Albanian GC (50) and two citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina DP (40) and SK (30) from Trebinje, who are currently unavailable to the Montenegrin police.
Former motor racing champion Darko Bakrač, formerly known as Danko, was arrested in January 2019 when police searched his SUV and found 208 kilograms of marijuana.
He was then arrested after a police chase because he failed to stop at Velika Plaza.
The former auto-moto ace also caused an accident that day, because he crashed into a police car during a car chase.
