The Police Directorate (UP) announced today that seven firearms, over 150 pieces of ammunition, marijuana, cocaine, and over 70 pills from the list of opiates were seized in searches in several cities, and that four people were arrested and nine were prosecuted.
"Officers of the Police Administration - Regional Security Centers 'North', 'West', 'Center' and 'South' today took repressive measures and actions against members of organized crime groups, persons of operational interest and those connected to them, with an emphasis on preventing the misuse of firearms and narcotics, and conducted searches in Podgorica, Cetinje, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, Bar, Ulcinj, Budva, Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi. The following were seized: six pistols, one rifle, 152 pieces of ammunition, over 100 grams of marijuana, 30 grams of hashish, 58 LSD tablets, 13 tablets from the list of opiates, a large number of PVC packages of the narcotic drug cocaine, a starting pistol, three scales for precise measurement, a crusher and one vehicle," the UP statement states.
Among those controlled, as stated by the Police, are a member of an organized crime group (OKG) Marko Ljubiša Kan and persons of operational interest Milovan Bigović, Ilija Veselinović and Marko Sekulić.
The UP said that nine people were prosecuted.
"Four persons were deprived of their liberty for drug abuse crimes, three persons were prosecuted for drug abuse, while two persons were charged with firearms abuse. Namely, police officers in Herceg Novi conducted searches at the homes of operationally interesting persons MB and IV Code IV, repeat offenders in the commission of criminal offenses, and found and seized: a Smith & Wesson pistol with 37 rounds of ammunition and a Browning pistol, which will be the subject of further administrative proceedings for permanent confiscation, in accordance with the Law on Weapons. A bag containing cocaine-like substances was found on a 17-year-old minor from Herceg Novi. A misdemeanor charge will be filed against him in accordance with the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement reads.
The Police Department said that marijuana was found during a search of an apartment used by AB in Tivat.
"Police officers will file a misdemeanor report against this person under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse. The police in Budva searched the apartment of an operationally interesting person, MS (44) from Budva. During the search of persons SM (28) and SF (18) in Budva, approximately 43 grams of the narcotic drug marijuana and over 30 grams of hashish packed in 28 PVC packages were found. The acting prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed about the incident, and on whose order SF was deprived of liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs and facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs. Testing for these persons determined the presence of the narcotic drugs cocaine and marijuana in their bodies," the UP said.
They also stated that the police found and confiscated two pistols with 26 rounds of ammunition in illegal possession of IP (30) from Budva, a starter pistol, a grinder, scales for precise measurement, and one PVC bag containing the narcotic drug marijuana.
"A misdemeanor charge under the Weapons Act has been filed against this person, while the prosecutor will later state his position on the qualification of the offense in relation to the seized firearm," the statement reads.
According to the Police Department, police officers in Kotor searched the apartment and other premises used by SV (49).
"58 tablets suspected of being the hallucinogen LSD, a PVC bag containing plant matter similar to the narcotic drug marijuana weighing about 50 grams and two scales for precise measurement were found in his possession. By order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, SV was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the UP said.
The institution said that police officers in Berane searched the apartment and other premises used by S.Š. (24) and found and confiscated a Zastava M57 pistol and 79 rounds of ammunition, in his illegal possession.
"A search of the apartment used by NB (27) found nine pieces of ammunition of unknown caliber, in illegal possession. The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the events and ordered that, after expert examinations, criminal charges be filed against S.Š. and NB on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the statement said.
The UP said that during an inspection of the vehicle used by AD (21) from Berane, four PVC packages containing cocaine and a PVC package containing marijuana were found and seized, as well as the aforementioned vehicle for further legal checks.
"The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje was informed of the incident, and on his order AD was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the UP said.
They also state that during a search of RK (40) in Bijelo Polje, a pistol and a hunting rifle, in illegal possession, were found and seized, as well as a small amount of ammunition.
"The acting state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje will subsequently state his opinion on the legal qualification of the act," the UP said.
The institution said that the police in Rožaje controlled EH, during which 13 pills on the list of opiates were found and seized.
"A request has been filed against this person to initiate misdemeanor proceedings pursuant to the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement reads.
In the territory of Podgorica, searches of apartments and vehicles were carried out at six locations, the UP statement added.
"In a separate activity by the Podgorica police, on the order of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, AT (42), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was deprived of her liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, when 36 PVC packages of the narcotic drug heroin were found during the search," the statement reads.
The Police Department also said that in Budva and Cetinje, the police carried out increased activities with the involvement of the Special Police Unit.
"Targeted checks of persons and vehicles were carried out, with an emphasis on OIL and OKG, and the discovery of illegal substances and objects. On this occasion, a member of one OKG – M.Lj – was checked in Budva," the UP said.
