Nikšić police, together with Customs Administration (CA) officers, seized 481 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps and with Kosovo stamps, as well as 34 kilograms of cut tobacco, and filed criminal charges against Lj.I. (64) and RR (64) for illicit trade, the Police Administration (UP) and CA announced today.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'West' - Nikšić Security Department, yesterday, together with officers of the Customs Administration, carried out intensified planned activities to suppress the shadow economy and illicit trade in excise goods, and conducted an inspection of six commercial facilities, one search of an apartment and other premises, and an inspection of seven vehicles - four passenger and three freight motor vehicles. The aforementioned activity resulted in the discovery and seizure of 481 packs of cigarettes of various manufacturers, without excise stamps and with Kosovo excise stamps, as well as 34 kilograms of cut tobacco," according to a joint statement submitted by the Customs Administration.
As they said, after completing the criminal investigation, police officers from the Nikšić Security Department, acting on the order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Nikšić, filed criminal charges against Lj.I. (64) from Nikšić and RR (64) from Nikšić on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
"Officers of the Police Directorate and the Customs Directorate continue to carry out intensive activities aimed at detecting and suppressing the shadow economy, as well as preventing smuggling and all forms of cross-border crime," the statement concludes.
