Podgorica police arrested SR (24), who was found with a gun and ammunition while sitting in a bar in Podgorica.
The Police Department announced that SR was "close to a high-risk criminal group."
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center 'Centar', Security Department Podgorica, while carrying out intensified activities within their jurisdiction aimed at members of organized criminal groups, persons of operational interest and those connected to them, carried out a targeted operational-tactical measure of raids in a catering facility in Podgorica and, by controlling a person of operational interest, found and seized a firearm - a pistol," the Police Directorate announced.
On that occasion, in addition to SR, they also searched V. Č. (18) and MB (28), when a CZ M57 pistol with a magazine containing three bullets was found in SR's possession.
"A person close to a high-risk criminal group, SR, was brought to the official premises of the Podgorica Security Department, and the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the event, who ordered that this person be deprived of liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the police added.
He will be brought to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica today, with a criminal report, within the legally prescribed time limit.
"Officers of the Police Directorate continue their intensified activities to control and prosecute the aforementioned category of persons, and to suppress the illegal possession and carrying of weapons, in order to protect the safety of citizens and maintain a stable security situation in the country," the statement reads.
