Ministry on arrest of gynecologist: We are monitoring the activities of the competent authorities

The Ministry of Health, regarding information about the arrest of a gynecologist in Podgorica, announced that it is "carefully monitoring all activities of the competent authorities" related to the case.

They said that the department fully respects the jurisdiction of the police and prosecutorial authorities and expects that all circumstances of the event will be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the law and professional standards.

The Police Department announced today that gynecologist PJ has been arrested and is suspected of unlawful sexual acts. A patient reported him to the police for inappropriately touching her.

"Without prejudice to anyone's responsibility, the Ministry recalls that patient safety, professional and ethical conduct of healthcare workers, as well as maintaining trust in the healthcare system, are of the utmost importance. Healthcare workers are obliged to perform their profession in the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath, with the highest degree of respect for the dignity, integrity and rights of each patient," the statement reads.
