The operationally interesting person RG (44) was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of human trafficking, the Police Directorate announced.
He was arrested by the police in Berane as part of the international operation "Liberterrra III Wekka".
"It is suspected that RG committed the criminal offense he is charged with by using force, serious threats and abuse of position and relationship of dependence, keeping the injured female person in his residential building, forcing her to commit property crimes and engage in prostitution, with continuous psychological, physical and sexual abuse. In cooperation with the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, RG was deprived of his liberty," the police statement said.
He will be brought before the acting senior state prosecutor for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline, along with a criminal report, it added.
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' continue with intensive activities within their jurisdiction in order to combat all forms of crime and preserve the personal and property security of our citizens," the statement concludes.
