According to information from "Vijesti", a large quantity of weapons and explosives, as well as drugs, were seized in a police operation in several cities in the northern region of Montenegro.
This was unofficially stated by the Police Directorate, who explained that the action is aimed at combating violence, weapon abuse and drugs.
"It is aimed at members of organized crime groups, persons of security interest and persons associated with them, or at preventing their illegal activities," said the interlocutor of "Vijesti".
According to the same information, the action was carried out in Kolašin, Mojkovac, Andrijevica, Bijelo Polje and Rožaje.
The Police Directorate (UP) officially announced that officers of the Regional Security Center "North" carried out a regional operation aimed at finding weapons, ammunition, explosives and drugs in illegal possession, and that they conducted searches at 13 locations.
The statement added that nine rifles, five pistols, five kilograms of explosives, a hand grenade, 240 rounds of ammunition, weapon parts, marijuana and opiate pills were seized.
"During a search of a family home and a catering facility owned by a person of operational interest B.Ć. (55) in Andrijevica, the police found a 7.62 mm CZ pistol and two frames. Also, during a search of the house and auxiliary facilities used by B.Ć. (51) in Andrijevica, two automatic rifles, a hunting rifle and an air rifle, a hand grenade, about five kilograms of a substance suspected of being explosive, 50 rounds of rifle ammunition, and a rifle barrel with a bolt were found. The prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the events and stated that the seized weapons and other items would be sent for expert examination to the Forensic Center in Danilovgrad, and that after appropriate expert examinations, criminal charges would be filed against B.Ć. on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives, while a statement would be made regarding the possible existence of the elements of a criminal offense after the expert examination," he points out. in the statement.
The UP added that during a search of the apartment and other premises used by Dž.D. in Bijelo Polje, a hunting carbine, two hunting rifles, a Zastava M70 pistol of 7,65 mm caliber with a spare frame, an air rifle and 94 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers were found and seized.
"The seized weapons will be handed over to the Administrative Internal Affairs Branch with a proposal for the permanent confiscation of the weapons," the UP said.
The institution said that a search of the apartments and other premises used by DM and NJ from Bijelo Polje found a small amount of plant matter resembling marijuana and pills that are on the list of opiates.
"A request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against both persons within the legally prescribed period for violations of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement reads.
The UP said that during a search of the apartment and other premises used by EM in Rožaje, police officers found and confiscated a 7,62 mm caliber Zastava M57 pistol with a frame and a hand spray with an irritating effect.
"The prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Rožaje has been informed of the incident and will subsequently comment on the legal qualification of the act," the statement reads.
The UP said that during a search of the apartment and other premises used by RV in Kolašin, the police found and seized a hunting carbine with two frames, a 9 mm Glock 17 pistol with two frames, a gas pistol and 96 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers.
"The seized weapon will be handed over to the Administrative Internal Affairs Branch with a proposal for permanent confiscation of the weapon, while in relation to the gas pistol, this person has been issued a misdemeanor warrant in accordance with the Weapons Act," the statement reads.
