Border police and customs officers yesterday found 58.935 British pounds and 60 Scottish pounds at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing point (BP) in a car driven by IM (34), a Greek citizen, which were hidden under the vehicle's floor mats, in seat pockets, as well as in a bag and clothing, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
The statement also states that IM is banned from entering Montenegro.
"Officers of the Regional Border Police Center 'South' - Herceg Novi Border Police Station, undertaking activities aimed at combating all forms of cross-border crime, in cooperation with officers of the Customs Administration and Frontex, yesterday at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing, during an attempt to enter Montenegro, controlled a Mercedes E-class vehicle with UK license plates, driven by IM (34), a citizen of the Republic of Greece. A detailed inspection at the second line of border checks found money in the amount of 58.935 British pounds and 60 Scottish pounds in the vehicle, which was hidden under the vehicle's floor mats, in the seat pockets, as well as in a bag and clothing," the statement said.
The UP added that officers from the Special Police Department (SPO) were informed of the incident, and they temporarily seized the money from IM for further checks.
"After carrying out official actions, police officers handed over a decision banning entry into Montenegro to IM," the statement reads.
