Police officers of the Regional Security Center "North", in order to improve the safety of all traffic participants, conducted the "City Blockade" operational action in the territory of their jurisdiction last evening, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
As stated in the statement, as part of this action, 1.164 people were checked, 341 vehicles were inspected, and 41 drivers were sanctioned, seven of whom were arrested under the Road Traffic Safety Act, three drivers each for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and one person of operational interest for refusing to undergo alcohol and drug testing.
"Also, two high-class vehicles were temporarily seized, and ammunition was found, for which a criminal complaint was filed against one person, as well as a small amount of marijuana and pills that are on the list of opiates," it said.
The police said that in Berane, police officers found six pieces of ammunition during a check of a vehicle driven by MB (40).
"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the above, who stated that this was a criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives and ordered that criminal charges be filed against the aforementioned person," the statement said.
"In Rožaje, during a check of F. Č., who was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol with a concentration of 2,21 g/kg, nine pieces of ammunition were found. He was deprived of his liberty for committing a violation under the Road Traffic Safety Act, while the state prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Rožaje was informed about the found ammunition, who will subsequently declare the qualification of the offense," the statement reads.
The Police Department added that in Bijelo Polje, police officers seized two high-class vehicles for further checks - from a person of operational interest AD and AK, a person close to the person of operational interest.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' will continue to undertake activities to prevent traffic accidents, identify and sanction the most serious violations, as well as raise awareness of the importance of respecting traffic regulations," the UP statement concludes.
