Customs and police officers prevented attempts to illegally import mobile phones and clothing into Montenegro at the Božaj and Dračenovac border crossings, the Customs Administration announced.
It is stated that officers of the Customs Administration and Border Police, at the Božaj Border Crossing, inspected a Volvo bus with Kotor license plates, which arrived from Albania traveling on the Durres - Kotor route.
"During the control, 15 iPhone and Samsung mobile phones were found and seized from the driver ZM (55) from Podgorica, with a total estimated value of almost 20 thousand euros," the statement said.
It is added that, by order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, ZM was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
As stated in the statement, Customs Administration officers prevented the illegal import of various clothing and textile items, with a total estimated value of around 2,5 thousand euros, at the Dračenovac crossing, which VM from Plav attempted to import into Montenegro.
"The Customs Administration will continue, in cooperation with the Police Administration, to take measures and activities to combat all forms of smuggling, with the aim of protecting the financial interests of the state and the safety of citizens," the statement concludes.
