Police arrested a Sudanese man, SM (23), suspected of human smuggling.
As announced by the Police Directorate, officers of the Regional Border Security Center "Centar" and the Department for Suppression of Cross-Border Crime found seven Sudanese citizens who had illegally entered Montenegro in the town of Božaj.
"Seven individuals who were later identified as citizens of Sudan: SM (23), RAA (23), SM (20), TJ (18), KAM (21), AA (21) and ME (22) are suspected of crossing the state border bypassing the border crossing and using forest paths, after which they arrived in Montenegro, where they were stopped and controlled by a border police patrol. Through further criminal investigation, it was determined that the named individual SM (23) gave a certain amount of money so that he would illegally transport them to Montenegro, bypassing border crossings, and then further organize transport to European Union countries," the police announced.
By order of the State Prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, and after information was collected and criminal investigation was conducted, SM was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and human smuggling.
