Police in Berane have filed criminal charges against two people for illegal construction in the national park zone, and one for forest theft.
"Namely, officers of the Economic Crime Suppression Unit in Berane filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office against VD (50) and RP (64) from Berane on suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of constructing a building without a building permit and documentation," the Police Directorate said in a statement.
It is added that the suspects violated the law by building weekend houses on a concrete base in the Biogradska Gora National Park zone during August 2023.
"The Berane police have also solved the criminal offense of forest theft, and have filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office against MR (43) from Berane on suspicion that in November this year, in the town of Borovac, in a private forest owned by another person, he illegally cut down beech trees," the statement concludes.
