Officers of the Regional Security Center "North" are conducting intensified planned activities in the area of combating the gray economy and preventing illegal trade in all types of goods, as well as increased control of traffic and catering facilities, the Police Directorate announced.
As they said, targeted controls were carried out in the territories of Plav, Kolašin and Rožaje, and on that occasion a "certain quantity" of excise goods - cigarettes - was found.
"In Kolašin and Rožaje, the competent inspection imposed fines totaling 1.500 euros for the seized cigarettes, while the acting prosecutor will subsequently rule on the legal qualification of the act for the seized cigarettes in Plav," the statement reads.
In addition, the "Searcher" operation was implemented in Berane, as part of which 255 vehicles were controlled and 105 people were examined, and 22 drivers were sanctioned for violations of the Law on Road Traffic Safety.
"Two vehicles, 8.000 euros in cash, as well as other items such as knives, irritant sprays, and other suitable means and objects were seized," the police said.
During the "Searcher" operation, the operational-tactical measure "Raid" was also carried out, during which around 50 people were checked.
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' continue to undertake increased activities within their jurisdiction in cooperation with other relevant services, with the aim of a comprehensive approach and response to all illegal activities in our society," the statement reads.
