The Council of the Supreme Court of Montenegro extended the detention of Ivan Cvijović due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of attempted aggravated murder by aiding and abetting.

His detention was extended for another three months, until March 9, 2026.

"According to the allegations in the order to conduct the investigation, the defendant is reasonably suspected of having helped two unknown perpetrators on September 7, 2025, with the aim of creating the conditions for the commission of the criminal offense and concealing the perpetrators and traces of the criminal offense as promised in advance, with his motorcycle after they, on the same day in the town of Brajići, used firearms from a moving motorcycle to seriously injure TS, causing her life-threatening injuries, and endangering the life of SB. After committing the criminal offense, the defendant transported the suspects on his motorcycle to the wider area of the Praskvica Monastery, thereby enabling them to escape," the Supreme Court statement reads.

It is added that the Supreme Court extended the detention due to the risk of obstruction of criminal proceedings:

"Given that the direct perpetrators are still unknown and on the run, and that there is a real fear that the defendant, if released, could influence them, help them hide or remove traces of the crime. Also, the detention has been extended for the sake of the smooth conduct of the criminal proceedings, and this is a criminal offense for which the law can impose a prison sentence of ten years or more, and which is particularly serious due to the manner of commission and consequences," the statement reads.

Cvijović's detention was initially ordered by a decision of the investigative judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica on September 10, and extended by a decision of the Criminal Chamber of that court on October 7 this year.
