The Berane police have filed a criminal complaint against the owner of the sawmill NF (61) on suspicion of committing forest theft, the Police Directorate announced.
It is alleged that police officers previously found 10,93 cubic meters of pine lumber at a sawmill owned by NF, located in the Berane area.
It is added that the police then undertook activities to determine the origin of the pine wood, and also informed the Forest and Hunting Management Administration.
"The competent inspectors of the said Administration, acting on the information, found the location of the said timber logging, which is an area on Mount Jelovica, and upon which information, police officers took further measures and actions," the statement says.
The police stated that the competent state prosecutor was informed about everything, and ordered the filing of criminal charges against NF.
"It is suspected that by cutting down the aforementioned pine timber, NF caused damage to the Forest and Hunting Management Administration in the amount of approximately 2.750 euros," the statement added.
