The Rožaje police arrested DK from Podgorica on suspicion of forcing his 15-year-old child and 21-year-old girlfriend to beg, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
As stated in the statement, DK is suspected of the crime of human trafficking.
"The criminal investigation points to the suspicion that DK, by abusing the relationship of trust and dependence, used his minor child and an adult female for the purpose of forced begging, and forced these persons to hand over the money collected during begging to him," the UP statement said.
As stated in the statement, during the operation, the police found a certain amount of money on the victims' property, which is suspected to have been obtained through forced begging.
The police added that DK, with a criminal complaint, will be brought before the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, on suspicion of having committed the aforementioned criminal offense.
The minor injured person was taken into custody by the Social Work Center in Rožaje for further care.
"Police officers continue to undertake comprehensive and intensive measures and actions aimed at preventing and detecting the criminal offense of human trafficking, as well as detaining and prosecuting responsible persons or persons associated with the commission of this criminal offense, as well as activities to provide protection to persons injured in these criminal offenses," the UP statement concluded.
