Albanian citizen RI (30), who is wanted by Greece for serving an 11-year prison sentence for rape, was arrested at the Sukobin - Murićani border crossing (BP), at the entrance to Montenegro, the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
The statement states that he was arrested by officers of the Border Police Station I in Ulcinj.
"Namely, at the entrance to Montenegro, during passport control, border police officers determined that a citizen of the Republic of Albania, RI (30), is wanted internationally by NCB Interpol Athens for serving an 11-year prison sentence for committing the criminal offense of rape. After the identity of the person was confirmed in cooperation with officers of NCB Interpol Podgorica, RI was deprived of liberty and he was handed over to the investigating judge for further jurisdiction," the statement states.
The UP added that further actions by the judicial authorities of Montenegro and Greece are being followed with the aim of extraditing RI.
