Podgorica police arrested AL (21) and a minor (17) from Nikšić on suspicion of committing aggravated theft and robbery, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
The statement states that on December 14, at around one o'clock after midnight, a foreign citizen, who was in front of a shopping mall in the Preko Morača area of the city, was approached by two young people who introduced themselves as police officers and asked for his personal documents.
"After this person stated that he did not have a document with him, the perpetrators demanded that he hand over a certain amount of money, which they took from him and left," the statement reads.
The UP said that the suspects then, at around 4:30 a.m., in front of a slot machine club in the same part of the city, physically attacked another foreign citizen, from whom they stole around 500 euros.
The statement states that these incidents were reported to the Podgorica police.
"Through a series of actions within the police jurisdiction, both checks and field activities, in the City kvart settlement, AL (21) and a 17-year-old minor from Nikšić were observed and controlled when the police suspected that they were the perpetrators of the above-mentioned acts. Information was collected from them, as well as from the injured parties, and the events were reported to the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, who qualified the criminal offense as aggravated theft and the criminal offense of robbery, in co-perpetration, and ordered that the minor and AL be deprived of their liberty. They were brought to the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline, with a criminal report," the UP said.
