The Supreme Court Council, deciding on the proposal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica from December 16, extended the detention of Branko Lučić (32), who is suspected of attempting to kill L.Ć. (31) in Podgorica on September 20, for another three months.
His detention was extended due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of attempted murder, the Supreme Court announced.
"According to the allegations in the investigation order and the case files, the defendant BL is reasonably suspected of having intentionally attempted to kill the injured party L. Ć. on September 20, at around 4 a.m. in Podgorica, in front of the apartment of the injured party L. Ć. After a previous conflict in a restaurant, the defendant came to the injured party's residence, carrying a kitchen knife with him. After a brief verbal and physical argument in front of the apartment's front door, he swung the knife at the injured party's chest and stabbed him in the left side of the chest, in the part of the body where the vital organs are located," the statement reads.
They also point out that Lučić's detention was extended due to the risk of flight, with the court also taking into account the fact that the defendant tried to flee the scene after the incident, but was prevented from doing so by police officers.
Lučić's detention was initially ordered by a decision of the investigative judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica on September 21, and extended by a decision of the Criminal Chamber of that court on October 17. According to the Supreme Court's decision, his detention can last until March 20, 2026.
