"The death of the late Milošević Svetislav is causally related to a strong force, namely a blow to the left eye socket," states the supplement to the findings and opinion on the cause of death of that Podgorica resident, prepared by the Forensic Medical Board of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica on October 29, 2025.
On Friday, December 12, the trial of defendant Igor Laković, accused of committing a criminal offense - grievous bodily harm resulting in death, continued before the panel of the Court of Appeal.
According to the overturned verdict of the Higher Court in Podgorica, Laković was sentenced to two years in prison for punching Milošević in the left side of the head on November 10, 2021, who died four days later at the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
After the decision was overturned, the case is before the second-instance Court of Appeal.
Attorney Mirko Bosković, the defense attorney for the defendant Laković, proposed, and the Appellate Court panel accepted, the defense's proposal to conduct a new super expert examination, which was entrusted to the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.
"The defense had objections to the composition of the forensic medical board of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica, taking into account the subject of the expert examination, as well as certain contradictions in the findings and the supplement to the findings," said attorney Bošković.
The supplement to the findings and opinion on the cause of death of Svetislav Milošević, prepared by the Forensic Medical Board of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica on October 29, 2025, states that they remain entirely with the medical expertise of May 20, 2025.
"We fully agree with the opinion of the member of the Forensic Medicine Committee, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Šoć given at the hearing held on 8. 7. 2025. Special anatomical analysis of the arteries of the brain, including the posterior right cerebral artery, does not establish any anatomical changes, including the appearance of 'spider threads', and it is not possible to expertly establish that the rupture would not have occurred if there had not been a congenital anomaly of the artery at the base of the brain. Medical literature highlights pronounced atherosclerosis and aneurysm as a special personal property of the arteries at the base of the brain. Therefore, the death of the late Milošević Svetislav is causally related to a strong force, namely a blow to the left eye socket. The expertise was conducted by members of the Forensic Medical Board of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica, prof. dr. Aleksandra Vuksanović Božarić, president, specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Šoć, specialist in forensic medicine, Prof. Dr. Lidija Injac Stevović, specialist in psychiatry, assistant professor, PhD Nikola Bulatović, orthopedic specialist and assistant professor Tanja Boljević, a specialist in maxillofacial surgery”.
The representative of the Milošević family, lawyer Nebojša Asanović, told "Vijesti" that both the basic finding and the supplementary finding of the Forensic Medical Board of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica, unequivocally determined that the death of the late Milošević was causally related to a strong force, namely a blow to the left eye socket, which, based on other evidence, was carried out by the defendant Igor Laković.
"Also, the experts are unanimous in that a special anatomical analysis of the cerebral arteries of the deceased Milošević Svetislav does not establish anatomical changes, including the appearance, such as spider webs, and since this was claimed differently by all of them in his previous report by the individual expert, Dr. Nemanja Radojević, it is not possible to establish through expert testimony that 'the rupture would not have occurred if there had not been a congenital anomaly' of the cerebral base artery in the deceased Milošević Svetislav. Due to the differences in opinion of the aforementioned experts, and at the proposal of the defendant's defense, the Appellate Court panel before which this procedure is now being conducted, ordered another expert examination, the third in a row, this time by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade."
He said that it is important to emphasize that the trial, which was initiated by the indictment of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office on December 29, 2021, is slowly entering its fifth year...
"And there is still no end in sight, which causes special pain to the family of the injured party, who regularly follows all hearings before this court and previously before the High Court in Podgorica. With each court hearing, they relive all the horror of the terrible event - the violent death of their son and brother - and ask only one question: is there an end to this and will the family of the injured party, especially the mother of the late Svetislav, receive justice," concluded lawyer Asanović.
The continuation of the trial is scheduled for February 13, 2026.
