In searches at ten locations in Nikšić, Šavnik, Plužine and Pljevlja, the police found and seized seven firearms - a machine gun, automatic weapons, rifles and pistols, 341 rounds of ammunition, three cars, marijuana and opiate pills.
The Police Directorate announced that officers of the Regional Security Center "West", in cooperation with officers of the Regional Border Police Center "Center", have carried out increased activities to control persons of operational interest and those associated with them, foreign citizens, prevent the misuse of firearms and drug distribution, as well as preventive action and increase the level of security for citizens.
Nikšić police searched a house and auxiliary facilities in Pluzine used by the SB from Podgorica.
"The following items were found and seized from this person: a Zbrojovka m26 Brno submachine gun, an M70 automatic rifle, two hunting rifles, a Zastava pistol, model M-57, 213 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers, two optical sights, frames from an automatic rifle and a pistol, as well as a certain amount of green plant matter resembling marijuana," the statement reads.
The State Prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić ordered that criminal charges be filed against SB, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives, and that the found weapons and ammunition be sent for appropriate expert examination.
During a search of the MB in that city, the police found and seized two firearms without proper documentation – a Pietro Beretta pistol, a Zastava CZ 99 pistol, and 128 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers.
The State Prosecutor at the Nikšić ODT will decide on the qualification of the crime after conducting appropriate expert examinations.
Also, a high-class BMW car was temporarily seized from a person of operational interest, DJ (35) from Nikšić, for the purpose of conducting appropriate checks.
Two more vehicles were seized for further checks from EF (22) and RP (21) from Nikšić. During these activities, a search was also conducted at the home of a person of operational interest, VL (43), the statement said.
14 tablets on the list of narcotic drugs were found and temporarily seized from the person of operational interest, Č.H. from Pljevlja, and a request will be filed against that person to initiate misdemeanor proceedings pursuant to the Law on Prevention of Drug Abuse.
The police also searched the apartment used by a person of operational interest - GB from Pluzine, at locations in Nikšić and Pluzine.
A search was conducted in Šavnik at RR's residence, where it was determined that he did not have a registered residence in Montenegro, after which he was sanctioned for a misdemeanor in accordance with the Law on Foreigners.
"In order to control the movement and residence of foreign citizens, increased control of foreigners was carried out in the territory of the Nikšić municipality in cooperation with officers of the Nikšić Border Police Station, during which 27 foreign citizens were controlled and eight persons were found to be illegally residing in Montenegro. Three decisions on the return of persons were issued, one decision on the cancellation of residence, and four misdemeanor orders were issued as part of repressive measures against these persons," the Police Directorate announced.
