The Border Police of the Regional Border Police Center "Centar" seized over 300 kilograms of cut tobacco yesterday, a Tuzan resident was arrested, and criminal charges were filed against an Albanian citizen, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
The statement states that the mobile unit of the border police, implementing compensatory measures directly along the state border, as well as immediately after crossing the state border, in the town of Božaj, near the border crossing, controlled a vehicle with Albanian license plates driven by PB (45), a citizen of Albania.
"During the inspection of the person's belongings and objects, four black PVC bags were found in the vehicle containing 105 packages of cut tobacco, weighing a total of about 52 kilograms. Police officers will file a criminal complaint against PB with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of illicit trade," the statement said.
The UP said that officers from this Regional Center in the town of Gošići, in Zeta, checked a vehicle with Berane license plates and the driver AP (35) from Tuzi.
"During a search of the vehicle, 17 larger black PVC bags were found in the interior and trunk, containing 510 smaller paper packages of cut tobacco, weighing approximately 255 kilograms. By order of the acting state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, AP was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trade. The tobacco found and the vehicle AP was driving were temporarily seized," the statement reads.
