This morning's "spectacular" arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Milutin Simović, for alleged abuse of official position of 5.000 euros for entertainment expenses, formalized the persecution of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) by the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), the party announced.
"If there were previously public doubts regarding the accusations of selectivity coming from our party, we believe that after today's addition, no one in Montenegro has any more dilemmas - instead of dealing with Kalashnikovs, the current government's millions in embezzlement, the destruction of institutions, and the squandering of state finances at every turn, the SDT is dealing with restaurant bills of a few hundred euros that are seven or eight years old," the statement reads.
They claim that the state apparatus is being misused to fight the opposition.
"The fact that the SDT, despite the numerous obvious misdeeds of this government, which go beyond the alleged misuse of 5.000 euros, deals only and exclusively with the Democratic Party of Socialists and that, along with the misuse of the prosecutorial apparatus, is trying with all its might to lower the rating of the DPS, definitely confirms that there is abuse of the state apparatus to fight against the opposition."
They say that "no one's house burned until dawn."
"It is also clear to the prosecutorial godfather group that no one's body was burned until dawn, and neither will theirs, and that the day will come when they will be held accountable for the repression they are carrying out against critics of this freakish government through the brutal abuse of their official position through which they have legitimized the prosecution as a whip for dealing with political opponents," the DPS announced.
