Kosovo citizen FR (39) was arrested on suspicion of stealing an undetermined amount of money from several mosques in the municipalities of Ulcinj and Bar, as well as 200 euros, three watches and four mobile phones from a family house in the village of Pistula, police announced.
The police said that during the summer months, several mosque burglaries were recorded in these municipalities, from which a certain amount of money was stolen.
"Police officers of the Criminal Police Station of the Ulcinj Security Department and the Bar Security Department, while taking operational and tactical measures and actions to identify the perpetrator, then came to the suspicion that this was a person FR (39) from Kosovo, and who was also suspected of having illegally crossed the state border to the Republic of Albania. However, by taking a series of measures and actions within their jurisdiction, police officers came to the knowledge that this person had illegally returned to the territory of Montenegro and was in the village of Kolomza, where he was located, and brought to the official premises of the Ulcinj Security Department.
Information was collected from him for the record, and the police came to the suspicion that FR committed three criminal acts of aggravated theft in Ulcinj during July 2025 - to the detriment of the Islamic Religious Community - a mosque in the village of Gornja Klezna, as well as a mosque in the village of Leskovac, from where he stole an undetermined amount of money, since the money was in boxes in which believers left donations, as well as to the detriment of a natural person from whose family house in the village of Pistula he stole about 200 euros, three watches and four mobile phones. Also, in the territory of Bar, he is suspected of committing burglaries in three religious buildings - mosques, from where he stole money," the police statement states.
It is added that by order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj, who is aware of the incident, FR was deprived of his liberty and he will be brought to the same place within the legal deadline with a criminal report for further jurisdiction.
