The Bijelo Polje police filed criminal charges against MH and EH, who are suspected of forest theft.
According to police suspicions, they cut down a certain amount of beech, hornbeam and oak trees in a state forest without a permit or approval, with a total wood mass of 17,18m3, causing damage to the Forest Management and Hunting Areas Department of Bijelo Polje in the amount of 1.144 euros.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' continue their activities in the fight against environmental crime as one of the national priorities, as well as in preventing illegal logging, finding and prosecuting perpetrators of criminal acts, and in order to preserve the natural resources of Montenegro," the Police Directorate concluded in a statement.
