The Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Kotor is handling the drone show case in Budva, the Police Directorate said, adding that expert examinations of the devices have been ordered to determine the cause of their crash.
It is stated that on January 1, at around 1 a.m., police officers from the Budva Security Department (SB) were notified that during a drone show above the Old Town in Budva, they crashed into the sea and onto the Port Authority plateau.
"Taking into account all the circumstances, starting from the large number of tourists, both domestic and foreign, who stayed in this city, the New Year's Eve celebration itself, as well as other events that required police involvement, officers from the Budva Police Department acted upon the report and, as soon as the conditions were right, went to the scene and secured it," the statement said.

It is added that the police informed the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor about the incident, who authorized police officers to begin conducting an on-site investigation.
"It was determined at the scene that several drones were damaged, and the same was secured until the morning hours, on the orders of the competent prosecutor, when the investigation continued," the police said in a statement.
They stated that, upon the order of the acting prosecutor, certain technical material and devices were seized, which were forwarded for appropriate expert assessments to determine the cause of the fall and the resulting damage caused by a currently unknown factor.
It is stated that the case is being handled by the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor, which will, within its jurisdiction, determine appropriate expert opinions and order police officers to further take specific measures and actions.
"Taking into account that these are specific technical components whose expertise requires special knowledge and competences from the relevant profession, after detailed expertise has been conducted and the investigation has been completed, the public will be informed of the outcome of the investigation in a timely manner," the statement said.
