Vice President of the Assembly of the Capital City of Cetinje Mirko Stanic was detained on December 26 in Podgorica for driving under the influence of alcohol, after citizens reported to the police that the driver was damaging parked cars on Novaka Miloševa Street.
After several unanswered calls, and a message explaining why the journalist was trying to contact him, Stanić told "Vijesti" last night that he was currently outside Montenegro and would contact him upon his return to the country.
According to official data from the Police Directorate, Stanić was arrested on December 26, 2025, at around 21 p.m.
Previously, a breathalyzer test determined that he was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 2,15 g/kg.
"Vijesti" unofficially learned that citizens that night reported that they noticed a vehicle, moving along Novaka Miloševa Street, making contact with parked cars.
Allegedly, he drove the car from a bar on the Ribnica Coast to the "Vasa Pavić" Music School.
Upon receiving the report, the police went to the scene and arrested Stanić.
After his arrest, Stanić was brought before a magistrate.
The Police Directorate told "Vijesti" that citizens have not reported damage to other vehicles.
In its X order, the Police Directorate announced on December 29 that traffic police in Podgorica had arrested 51 drivers over the previous weekend - 31 for speeding, three for driving under the influence of drugs, two who refused a breathalyzer test, and 11 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
"92 misdemeanor reports were filed, 182 warrants were issued, one vehicle was seized. As part of these activities, the following were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol: AC (38) from Turkey, who was sentenced to 30 days in prison, MS (44) from Cetinje - 2,15 g/kg, B. B. (50) from Podgorica - 2,61 g/kg, KV (43) from Podgorica - 2,15 g/kg, which caused a traffic accident," the UP announced at the time.
"Vijesti" confirmed last night that the MS from the police statement is the Vice President of the Assembly of the Royal Capital and an official of the Social Democratic Party - Mirko Stanić.
