The police will file criminal charges against a Kosovo citizen IR (60) who attempted to enter Montenegro with a forged driver's license.
Officers of the Border Police Sector at the Sukobin Border Crossing discovered a forged document that the driver used as a genuine one, presenting it to police officers during a check, the Police Directorate announced.
"Yesterday, January 7, 2026, officers of the Border Police Station I Ulcinj conducted a border control on IR (60), a citizen of Kosovo, the person driving the vehicle, at the Sukobin border crossing, upon entering our country in a passenger motor vehicle. This person provided police officers with documents, including a driver's license allegedly issued in Slovenia, the authenticity of which the police officers suspected. Additional checks were carried out at the second line of border control, which determined that the driver's license was a forgery, and the document was then confiscated," the statement reads.
A statement was taken from IR at the police station.
"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj was informed of all the facts, who qualified the event and ordered that criminal charges be filed against IR in regular proceedings on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of forging a document," the police said.
