During 2025, citizens voluntarily returned more than 4.170 weapons, more than 130.000 pieces of ammunition, 506 hand grenades, weapon parts, and detonating devices.
They did this as part of the "Respect Life, Return the Weapons" campaign, which the Police Directorate, as they remind you, has been continuously implementing for many years.
In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center "Center" - in Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Cetinje and Tuzi - citizens voluntarily handed over 1.756 weapons to the police, while in the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center "South" - in Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj - 910 weapons were voluntarily returned.
In the northern region of the country, in the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center "North" - in Bijelo Polje, Berane, Rožaje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Plav, Gusinje, Andrijevica and Petnjica - 794 weapons were voluntarily surrendered, while 719 weapons were voluntarily surrendered to police officers of the Regional Security Center "West" - in Nikšić, Žabljak, Šavnik, Pljevlja and Plužine.
Of the total number of weapons surrendered during 2025, 136 were automatic rifles, 1.696 shotguns, and 2.347 pistols.
Since the very beginning of the campaign - from 2015 to the end of 2025 - more than 7.300 weapons, almost 195.000 pieces of ammunition and more than 100 kilograms of explosives, as well as more than 2.500 pieces of various weapon parts, have been voluntarily handed over to police officers throughout Montenegro.
"This data, although encouraging, is another reminder, but also a motivation for every citizen to contribute to the overall security of society and to surrender the weapons, ammunition and explosives in their possession, without any legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability and regardless of whether the weapons are in illegal or legal possession," the police said.
They remind that citizens can call the police at 122, inform the police officers that they want to return the weapon, after which the police officer will take the weapon at the location where that person or weapon is located and issue a receipt for the takeover.
They note that citizens should not bring weapons to police stations themselves, primarily for safety reasons, but should follow the previously mentioned instructions for voluntary surrender of weapons.
"The Police Directorate will continue to implement increased preventive and repressive activities as part of the current campaign, as well as in order to preserve the safety, health and lives of all citizens, and at the same time calls on citizens to work together to build a safer environment in our country through cooperation and respect for the law," the statement reads.
