The Podgorica police identified, found and prosecuted the driver from the footage posted on social media, who on January 11, 2026, at around 10:40 p.m., was driving in the opposite direction along the Zetskih vladara Boulevard in Podgorica, on a section of the road where the traffic lanes are physically separated, thereby endangering other road users, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
As stated in the statement, it was determined that the "VW" vehicle, without license plates, was driven by I. Đ. (50) from Zeta, against whom traffic police officers filed a request with the Minor Offences Court in Podgorica to initiate minor offence proceedings for committing a minor offence under Article 318, paragraph 1, item 3 of the Road Traffic Safety Act.
The UP said that I. Đ. was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime of domestic violence.
"Also, police officers from the Podgorica Security Department, after collecting information and on the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, deprived I. Đ. of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of domestic violence or violence in a family community. He is suspected of having addressed a family member with words threatening life and limb, which caused the injured party to feel fear and threatened. He was taken to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further jurisdiction," the UP statement reads.
