Nikšić police arrested D. Š. (24) from that city on suspicion of physically assaulting a man and causing material damage to his vehicle, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
"Police officers from the Nikšić Security Department acted upon a citizen's report that an unknown person had spoken offensive words to him, after which he physically attacked him, striking him in the head with a clenched fist. The injured party also reported that the same unknown person was causing damage to his vehicle, which was parked on a street," the Police Directorate (PD) said in a statement.
The police added that a police patrol was sent to the scene, where they found the injured party and D. Š. (24) from Nikšić, who was brought to the official premises. After collecting information, D. Š. was arrested for committing offenses under Articles 7 and 10 of the Law on Public Order and Peace (insult, insolent behavior and physical assault) and brought before a misdemeanor judge in Nikšić.
"An on-site investigation was carried out, which determined material damage to the vehicle. Also, while being brought to the official premises, D. Š. addressed the police officer with offensive and threatening words, for which reason, by order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić, he was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of assault on an official in the performance of official duty," the statement states.
The UP added that a criminal complaint was filed against D. Š. with this prosecutor's office for the criminal offense of destruction and damage to another person's property.
