Police officers arrested U. Š. (20) after finding 300 packs of cigarettes in the vehicle he was driving, the Police Directorate announced.
The police said that last night, on the Rožaje - Berane road, their officers checked a Fiat passenger vehicle driven by U. Š.
"While checking U. Š. and the vehicle, police officers noticed several packs of cigarettes under the back seat, after which 300 packs of cigarettes with excise stamps from another country, of different brands, were found hidden in a bunker under the back seat of the vehicle," the statement said.
It is alleged that officers from the Rožaje Border Police Station informed the prosecutor on duty at the Rožaje Basic State Prosecutor's Office about the incident, who qualified the crime as smuggling and on whose orders U. Š. was arrested and the cigarettes confiscated.
"Within the legally prescribed period, U. Š. will be brought before the acting prosecutor for further proceedings," the police said.
