Five drivers were arrested in Herceg Novi on January 14th and 15th, and one of them was sentenced to prison.
"Through increased control of road users with a focus on sanctioning drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and/or psychoactive substances in their bodies, members of the Herceg Novi police deprived the driver of his liberty, UM (30) from Kotor, who refused to undergo a test for psychoactive substances, while a breathalyzer test determined the presence of alcohol in this person's body at a concentration of 0.84 g/kg," the Police Directorate announced.
He was brought before a misdemeanor judge, who imposed a fine of 1.800 euros on him, as well as a protective measure of a ban on driving category "B" motor vehicles for six months.
The driver, JB (34) from Serbia, was also arrested, and testing revealed the presence of psychoactive substances in his body.
He was brought before a misdemeanor judge with a misdemeanor charge, who imposed a protective measure of a six-month ban on driving a "B" category motor vehicle, as well as a 28-day prison sentence, and he was taken to the UIKS to serve his sentence.
"Drivers CA (31) and Đ.S. (52) were deprived of their liberty because a breathalyzer test determined the presence of alcohol in their bodies at a concentration of more than 1 g/kg, while driver J.Đ. (26) was deprived of his liberty because he drove his vehicle at a speed of 113 km/h in a populated area where the speed limit is 50 km/h. They were brought before the acting misdemeanor judges who imposed fines and protective measures prohibiting them from driving a 'B' category vehicle for three and two months," the statement reads.
