Podgorica police have sanctioned 13 people who blocked traffic with their vehicles during an unregistered gathering in the Donja Gorica neighborhood today, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Officers of the Police Administration - Security Department of Podgorica, taking legally prescribed measures and actions within their jurisdiction in relation to unregistered gatherings on the territory of the Capital City and the municipality of Zeta, today sanctioned 13 persons who blocked traffic with their vehicles during an unregistered gathering in the settlement of Donja Gorica," the statement states.
The UP added that while respecting the right of citizens to peaceful assembly, they remind organizers and participants that in exercising their rights they cannot limit or threaten the rights of other citizens.
The UP also said that they would like to remind that for security reasons, it is necessary to report public gatherings, and that the UP will evaluate each request individually and take measures and actions accordingly, depending on the situation on the ground.
"We also once again emphasize the importance of cooperation with the police and partnership so that all citizens can safely use public roads, and peaceful gatherings can be held without risk to the safety and rights of others," the UP said.
Residents of Zeta continued to protest today against the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, and three-hour blockades were organized on the bridge on the Sitnica River, towards Cetinje, and at the "Jezero" restaurant in Vranjina.
Those gathered reiterated that they defend the right to healthy air and clean water and added that injustice had forced them onto the streets.
From today's blockade on the Podgorica - Cetinje road, they called for a new tomorrow, which should show who from the people of Zeća and others is with them, and who, as they say, is with the occupiers.
