During the previous weekend, from January 16 to 18, 86 drivers were arrested on Montenegrin roads, 40 of which were in Podgorica, the Police Directorate announced today.
According to the statement, over the past weekend, 41 traffic accidents were recorded, in which four people suffered serious and nine minor injuries.
"During the same period, traffic police officers filed 227 misdemeanor reports, issued 1.570 misdemeanor warrants, temporarily confiscated 26 pairs of license plates and removed the same number of vehicles from traffic as part of repressive activities," the UP statement said.
The police added that 86 drivers were arrested, of which 31 were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in the body with a concentration of more than 1g/kg or refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
"...25 drivers for driving under the influence of narcotic drugs or other psychoactive substances or refusing to submit to testing and 30 drivers for committing other serious violations in the field of the Road Traffic Safety Law. Of the total number of persons deprived of their liberty, 40 were deprived of their liberty in Podgorica and eight each in Herceg Novi and Nikšić," it is stated.
The police appeal to all road users to respect traffic regulations and thus contribute to both their own safety and the safety of other road users.
