The Pljevlja police seized three rifles and a shot wild boar in the "Hunter" operation, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
As stated in the statement, the police in Pljevlja, taking operational measures and actions in the field, in an action codenamed "Hunter", aimed at persons engaged in hunting wild boars despite the hunting ban in force pursuant to the Law on Game and Hunting, controlled three persons, one of whom was a police officer, and confiscated rifles and shot game.
"Namely, police officers from the Pljevlja Security Department, undertaking a series of activities within their jurisdiction, stopped and controlled a vehicle in the town of Vraca, carrying EH (29) and IA (51), a border police officer. Upon inspection of the vehicle, a shot wild boar and two rifles were found. The shot game and weapons were seized, and the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja was informed of the incident," the UP statement states.
The police added that, through a series of activities undertaken in relation to this event, in cooperation and on the orders of the acting prosecutor, police officers came to suspect that the person HH (32) had shot the aforementioned game and the police officers seized the rifle from him.
"Information was collected from all three persons, as well as from several witnesses to the event, and the entire case file will be submitted to the acting prosecutor today for assessment and opinion. Regardless of the outcome and legal qualification of the act in relation to the police officer, prescribed measures and actions will be taken in accordance with the Law on Internal Affairs," the UP statement reads.
In an addendum to the statement, the Police Department stated that criminal charges will be filed against them in regular proceedings upon the order of the acting prosecutor, while prescribed measures and actions will be taken against the police officer in accordance with the Law on Internal Affairs.
